Upgrade your RV with a secure and convenient keyless entry system. This step-by-step guide walks you through installing a Keyless RV Door Lock or RV Keyless Entry Door Lock, perfect for RV Door Lock Replacement on all types of RV Trailer Door Locks. Ensure a smooth installation of your new RV Door Locks to enhance security and modernize your RV’s RV Locks.
Before You Begin:
Your smart RV Door Lock kit includes an internal and an external lock body. They are connected by a wire. Carefully disconnect the plug before starting. The required installation hole dimensions are: 2.75″ (L) x 3.75″ (H) x 1.25″-1.5″ (Thickness).
Step 1: Install the External Lock Body
- Remove the four mounting screws from the new smart lock assembly and unplug the connecting wire.
- From the outside of the RV door, carefully insert the external lock body into the door’s prepared hole. Caution: Avoid pinching or crushing the connecting wires during this step.
- Align the lock’s latch with the door edge hole and place the included Strike Plate over it. Insert the screws but do not fully tighten them yet.
Step 2: Install the Internal Lock Body
- From the inside of the door, reconnect the wire plug between the internal and external lock bodies.
- Align the internal lock body with the door hole. The mounting hole is D-shaped, so ensure correct orientation before proceeding.
- Carefully align the reset mechanism on the inner handle with the gap in the external latch assembly.
- Install and hand-tighten the four main mounting screws.
- Slightly adjust the position of both lock bodies for a perfect fit, then fully tighten all screws. The main RV Keyless Entry Door Lock assembly is now secure.
Pro Tip: Throughout installation, constantly check that the connecting wires are not pinched or pressed against sharp edges to prevent damage.
Step 3: Install & Adjust the Pinch Plate (Latch Plate)
- You may use your vehicle’s original pinch plate or the replacement provided in the kit.
- The kit includes two screw specifications. Select the screws that match your door’s existing hardware or the new plate.
- Install the pinch plate onto the door jamb.
- Crucial Adjustment: Close the door and test the latch. Open the door and adjust the position of the pinch plate until the latch engages smoothly and securely. Tighten the screws once the optimal position is found.
Step 4: Power & Setup
- Open the battery compartment on the interior lock body.
- Install the four (4) AA batteries (included).
- Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to set your master access code and pair any included remote controls.
Congratulations! Your RV Door Lock Replacement is complete. You’ve successfully installed a modern, secure Keyless RV Door Lock, enhancing the convenience and safety of your RV Trailer Door Locks. Enjoy your new key-free entry system!
